RTI Coordinator 

Reports to: Building Principal/Curriculum Director  

Summary: 

The RtI Coordinator will implement strategies in direct interaction with students to ensure that all children can achieve at grade level.  The RtI teacher will also provide support for the implementation of English Language Development services for English Learner students.  RtI Coordinator will perform all necessary duties needed to implement and carry out services to enable all students to experience reading success.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

  • Attend summer training as requested by Administration.
  • Participate in sessions of literacy coach training to ensure the successful implementation of the delivery of services.
  • Provide interventions for (individuals with IEP’s) groups of students, 30-40 minute blocks daily.
  • Plan and facilitate literacy team meetings, professional study groups and staff development sessions in scientifically based research literacy practices and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Share expertise e.g. through teaching model lessons, presenting workshops, facilitating study groups, providing effective teaching strategies for diverse learners.
  • Collect and analyze district data to assess and inform teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of literacy content and pedagogy.
  • Establish goals for the literacy instructional support program appropriate to each school setting and the learners served.
  • Create an environment of trust and respect between classroom teachers, staff and themselves.
  • Engage learners in learning new instructional skills and individual strategies for participation in the general education setting.
  • Show professionalism, including integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Supervises and provides professional development for RtI teachers.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and RtI, and/or Board of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • NCLB (No Child Left Behind) highly qualified criteria
  • State of Illinois Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education
  • Master’s Degree in Reading 
  • Administrative Certificate 
  • Qualified Evaluator 
  • Such alternatives within the guidelines of the Illinois State Board of Education and acceptable to the Board of Education.
